Gateway town to the Omo Valley tribes
Jinka is a lively market town in the South Omo Zone and the main gateway to the indigenous communities of the lower Omo Valley, including the Mursi, Aari and Banna peoples. It is the last town with hotels, an airport and a bank before travellers venture deeper into the valley.\n\nThe town is home to the South Omo Research Center museum, which offers an excellent introduction to the region's many ethnic groups, and hosts a busy weekly market where people from surrounding villages gather. Most itineraries use Jinka as their base for excursions to Mursi villages and the Mago National Park.
